Their primary goal was to implement a modern, open-source Access Management (AM) solution that seamlessly
integrates with both their internal Active Directory and the external ‘eHealth’ identity provider.
The critical requirements were high availability, data consistency, and minimal downtime, given
the sensitive nature of their data and operations.
The solution
After thorough analysis, Keycloak emerged as the ideal open-source solution for Sciensano's
Access Management needs. It offered scalability, advanced security, and performance features. Our team at InspireHealth, in collaboration with IS4U,
developed a custom Keycloak extension tailored to Sciensano's needs. This solution included a unique theme with Sciensano branding,
ensuring a familiar and secure user experience. The deployment strategy emphasized high availability and data consistency,
with multiple server redundancies to minimize risks of downtime or data loss.
